The Jefferson Hotel, Richmond, VA

Opened in 1895, The Jefferson Hotel is one of only 23 hotels to carry both the Mobil Five-Star and the AAA Five Diamond ratings. In 2001, Forbes FYI magazine called it the “Best Hotel in America.” It is a member of both Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, and Historic Hotels of America. The Jefferson comes replete with rich tapestries, antique replica furniture, embellished faux-marble columns, a 70-foot high ceiling with a stained-glass skylight, and a magnificent sweeping staircase hauntingly similar to the one in Gone With the Wind. In addition to its lavish 264 guest rooms and 18 opulent meeting/banquet rooms, The Jefferson also boasts a 1,500-square-foot presidential suite, the AAA Five Diamond restaurant, Lemaire, and an indoor swimming pool.

Keswick Hall at Monticello, Keswick, VA

The history of Keswick, VA is whispered through the picturesque landscape of rolling hills peppered with spectacular vineyards and meticulously cared for equestrian stables.  One can almost see the spirits of Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, Meriwether Lewis, and so many other founders and pioneers while exploring the back roads and lanes in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Such is the setting of Keswick Hall at Monticello, an historic, 48 room mansion nestled on a 600 acre estate.  Each individually designed guestroom speaks to the elegance of the setting with a nod to the noble history of Keswick Hall.  The estate includes a vineyard and is home to Keswick Club, offering tennis, swimming, spa, fitness center and Keswick Club Golf Course, which will reopen in the summer of 2014 following a redesign by the legendary, Pete Dye.   Keswick Hall is also home to Fossett’s restaurant, the premier, award winning restaurant of the Keswick and Charlottesville area.  Chef Aaron Cross offers a menu that is seasonally based while always celebrating the wonderful cuisine of the region.
